The holiday of 2008 has to be the one to Dalyan in Turkey. Staying
at the lovely Sultan Palas Hotel, we at first got a feeling of being
cut off from the real world as we needed to use the hotel boat to
get into the town - we first visited Dalyan 12 years ago on a trip
from Olu Deniz and it was then a village - but the boat ran at pre-determined
times and you could call the hotel at any other time you wanted
to use the boat to either pick you up from the jetty or go to or
from Dalyan.
The hotel was brilliant but then it is really the people that make
a holiday special (both staff and guests) and in a hotel which has
26 rooms with only a few of the rooms occupied leading up to the
end of the season it was brilliant. There were 12 guests who all
got on together - even on one occasion going to a restuarant (Ley
Ley) to lunch together.
